OUR STAR IS A SHE
As Venezuela’s first certified female Master Blender and the third in Latin America, Carmen has passionately led an incredible team for over 30 years with us, turning every blend into a unique sensory experience.
Her three-decade legacy has not only defined the profile of our award-winning rums but has been instrumental in opening doors for women in this extraordinary craft. In her own words, her mastery is a labor of devotion: “It is the ability, taste, and olfactory sensitivity, combined with the dedication to harmonize different rums and vintages to create a masterpiece.
Destilería Carúpano’s rums have an additional magic touch. Their conception rests on the shoulders of the only female Master Blender in the Country: Carmen López de Bastidas, who has, for the past 30 years, been passionately developing the profiles of the unique products in Destilería Carúpano.
In her own words, being a Master Blender means "having the ability, taste and olfactory sensitivity as well as the dedication to know how to mix different types of rum with different aged vintages to be able to create products of the highest quality".

OVER 250 YEARS OF RUM BLENDING MASTERY
Our ability to produce a wide and deep assortment of distillates is also due to more than 250 years of tradition, history and rum blending mastery, which has allowed us to produce in a standardized and parallel way, distillates with varied degrees of differentiation in the same category and in different categories between each other. Our techniques and experience have allowed us to identify subtle differences between products that are attractive to even the most demanding palates. In addition, we combine this specialty with sensory evaluations and consumer knowledge to offer attractive brands, in intriguing bottles with authentic product quality.
